Vinyl Sales Now Less Than Pet Rocks!
(Atlanta, GA – 10/16/2024) Yes, you read that right! Vinyl sales have fallen to levels below the (surprisingly still popular) Pet Rock!
According to research conducted by thousands of invisible spirit animals who used to live in the homes of people around the world—people once known for their curious habit of collecting vinyl—the fad is finally over.
I’m not sure when vinyl was invented (or discovered, or bred—I have no idea), and it’s so passé now that I won’t even look it up. But I can tell you the Pet Rock was created by Gary Dahl in the mid-1970s. They were hand-gathered in Baja, Mexico, and in 1975 and 1976, Dahl sold so many Pet Rocks that he became a millionaire.
Today, there’s a Pet Rock revival! In the 2020s, Pet Rocks became popular in South Korea, and K-pop stars have posted about them online! I don’t know who this is but they collect Pet Rocks (maybe)!
Pet Rock fandom has also evolved into highly detailed “Painted Rocks”!
So to sum it all up, Pet Rocks are cool and whatever vinyl was is not. Get a life hipsters!
